Exhaust Pipe Guard
The Exhaust Guard project by Argo Products involved the manufacturing of a durable exhaust pipe guard for a cotton picker, designed to provide protection in demanding agricultural environments. This fairly large component, weighing six pounds, was engineered with efficiency and cost-effectiveness in mind. By leveraging CNC wire forming, Argo Products successfully eliminated the need for secondary forming operations, reducing production time and costs while maintaining precision and quality.
The exhaust guard was manufactured using 8mm low carbon steel, 7GA high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) Grade 50 steel, and 11GA HSLA Grade 50 steel, materials chosen for their durability and resistance to harsh conditions. To fabricate the part, Argo Products utilized advanced equipment, including the Robomac CNC machine for wire forming, a Lincoln Electric Robotic Welding Station for precision welding, and a Straight Side Punch Press for stamping.
For enhanced protection and longevity, the exhaust guard received a powder coat over primer, achieving a Class B finish that provides excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. This project showcases Argo Products’ expertise in precision wire forming, stamping, and robotic welding, delivering a high-quality, cost-effective solution for agricultural machinery.
